International Driving Permit(IDP) and Passprt
How to get Inter national Driving Permit?
In case of US
If you prepare the following three items, you can get an IDP on the same day for $20.
- ・American driver's license (with more than 6 months of expiration date remaining)
- ・AAA (American Automobile Association) membership card
- ・2 passport size photos

Fill out the application form. You can also take photos here for $8.
Step3
IDPs will be issued within 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how crowded it is.

If your country is a member of the Geneva Convention, you can obtain a valid driver's license in Japan through the same simple procedure.
